The boarding houses
In the summer of 2006, two new Psychosocial Rehabilitation Units, they were founded and have been operating since then, in Peristeri and Ilion of Attica. The two Eco-Shelters of the Greek Society for Psychosocial Support, Restoration and Community Care, host 15 people each,who come from former patients of the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica ("Dafni") and the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica "Dromokaiteio." These are our fellow human beings,who suffer from Intellectual Disability and secondary symptoms of mental disorders,former chronic patients of the aforementioned hospitals.
We spend a large part of our day with these fellow human beings, taking care of them. This is our job. We make sure that all these "elementary" things are enjoyed that every person enjoys in their life (food, accommodation, clothing, footwear, personal hygiene and care, medication, etc.), but also those that can do for them to improve their quality of life by developing skills that they never Until today, they have not been given the opportunity to develop. Everyday things that seem taken for granted by the rest of us,for some of our fellow human beings, these are unprecedented experiences... These and many more are our job to provide to our tenants.
Ilion Dormitory
It is located on Chrysiidos Street, No. 24, near the Ilion Town Hall, in the heart of the community, in the heart of the city! We have given it the name "Aeneas". The "Aeneid" is roughly equivalent to our "Odyssey," the history of the Latins for the the wandering of Aeneas after the fall of Troy until he reaches the place where Rome is today and to establish a City that evolved into a great Empire, one of the most significant in History! The myth of Aeneas says that when the Trojans were leaving Troy, the conquerors allowed them to take only one valuable item from their home.
All the Trojans chose something of great economic value. Aeneas chose to take on his shoulders his helpless father. The Greeks, seeing this event, out of recognition and respect, They let him take whatever else he desired. Therefore, the name of Aeneas was given to the Boarding House of Ilium, since "Ilium" was none other than the name of Troy itself, while the act of Aeneas,The dedication and care inspire us... The adventure of Aeneas contains two great principles of it deinstitutionalization: Respect for the supreme human value and care for those in need,but also the journey, the wandering, the course, therefore life itself!

When it took its name, the Hostel that is located in Ilion as "Aeneas," the idea of naming the said boarding house "Odysseus" was self-evident. Not of course just to remember our "own" Homer in parallel with Virgil,but also because the "Odyssey" and Odysseus have quite a bit in common with Aeneas and the "Aeneid". Principles, timeless values, companionship, struggle, and wandering in search of "Ithaca"...
